Product Description

1978 Music Man Sabre Stingray Bass Mocha

We just picked up this killer 1978 Music Man Sabre and it is a phenomenal sounding bass. The Sabre was the cousin to the Stingray and most were made with two humbucking pickups. This one is quite unique as it is setup just like a Sting ray with controls for volume, treble and bass. It does not appear to be modified in any way and it sounds killer. The pots all date to 1978 and the serial (B010654) stamp on the bridge puts it in the same 1978/1979 period. It is possible that this is a Sabre neck on a Stingray body but because this bass is so original, we think it may have been a one-off hybrid. It is 100% functional with no electronic issues. The mute pads on the bridge will need to be replaced it you want to use them but otherwise this bass will be ready to play right out of the box. It has great action with no buzzing issues and it is pretty light weight at 10lbs 2oz. Most 70s Stingrays approach 12lbs or more so this one is very comfortable to play. Includes a non original gig bag.
