Product Description

1987 Martin J-40 M Jumbo Acoustic w/ OHSC

The elusive Martin J-40M is one of the best kept secrets of the last 30 years of Martin guitars. These guitars were produced in low numbers from 1985-1989 before being renamed the J-40  in 1990. This guitar features a 0000 body with a 16" lower bout and dreadnaught depth of about 4 7/8". It has scalloped bracing, a Sitka Spruce Top and East Indian Rosewood back and sides. This guitar also has the Martin hexagonal Abalone inlays which look amazing.

This J-40M from 1987 is a beautiful example of the fine craftsmanship that Martin has become known for. This came to us from the original owner and it has been meticulously cared for and humidified from day one. The action on this guitar is phenomenal with no buzzing and it has a huge tone. Imagine a guitar that is articulate and balanced like a 000 but has the punch and volume of a dreadnaught and this is what you will get with this one. This guitar is in excellent overall condition showing just some light swirl scratches on the back and a few small dings. No cracks, no repairs, no issues. For a 30 year old guitar, this is about as clean as they come! Includes hardshell case.
