The ODS represents the evolution of the original Overdrive Supreme platform into the 21st Century. Players as widely diverse as Al Di Meola, Warren Haynes, Jimmy Herring of Widespread Panic, Coy Bowles of Zac Brown and Jake Cinninger of Umphreys McGee have all played through an ODS for “their tone.” The ODS is the result of almost 20 years of customer feedback as well as Andy’s own journey in tone.
The brite switch has two positions. Off in the middle, and two different operating points for a sparkly subtle shine, and a second, more aggressive high boost which brings clarity and more midrange push to the tone. The ODS- has a three position EQ switch. Up gets you EQ-1, which is a more gainy and punchy rock style eq. Middle position is a gain boost which bypasses the tone controls, and down is EQ-2 a smoother, more jazzy studio style EQ. Pulling the high control gets you mid boost, while pulling the mid control provides a second mid-boost frequency shift for two distinctive voices. The overdrive channel is the same great drive channel that made the original ODS amps the success they became.
This ODS is in very good overall condition. Because it has blonde tolex, it is starting to show its age a little bit cosmetically in the way of several small dings and scuffs but the amp plays and sounds great. It is fully functional with no issues and the included Fuchs 2x12 cabinet is a perfect combination to this head. These heads sell for over $2k by themselves used making this a steal at this price.
