Haida Gwaii Custom Acoustic Guitar w/ Original Case- One of 70 Super Rare!!
Brothers Greg & Chris Williams (from the Haida Gwaii Islands in British Columbia) went to work at the Larrivee factory in Vancouver in 1998. They hung around with fellow luthiers Mark Vantaa and Robert Bustos and came up the idea to make guitars from a legendary tree on Haida Gwaii (known as the Golden Spruce to the native Haida people) felled in 1997. This tree had a unique genetic mutation which gave it golden colored needles. Although they secured the agreement of most of the Haida council it was decided to leave the tree where it lay so it could return to the earth. Despite this set-back the group persevered with building acoustic guitars incorporating native Haida art - eventually making around 70 in total. The Williams brothers left around 2002 and Vanataa and Bustos carried on as Paragon guitars. This is a custom made/one-of-a kind jumbo sized acoustic guitar with solid spruce top, flamed maple back and sides, ebony fingerboard and bridge, mahogany neck, black body binding.
It is mint condition other than a spot on the back of the neck where the finish has popped up a bit. There is a small finish imperfection as a result of this but its not very noticeable when you are playing the guitar. We smoothed it out in our repair shop when it came in. The truss rod works as it should and this guitar has a perfect setup on it currently with zero issues. It plays beautifully and comes in a deluxe arch-top hard shell case.
