Vintage 1920s/30s Dobro Resonator Square Neck (Rounded)

Here we have a really cool Dobro Resonator from the 1920s or early 30s. The resonator is stamped with 1896484 and the words "Other Pats Pending" under the patent number. This patent was issued in 1932 so we believe that this guitar was made prior to that year. This is indeed a square neck resonator but you will notice that the corners of the neck were rounded many years ago and this guitar was played as a bottle neck for some time as evidenced by the wear on the fretboard. At somewhere near 100 years old, this guitar is a survivor without a doubt. It is all original from what we can tell besides possibly the top nut. There is a small crack on the bass side of the body that is a couple inches long. It looks very old and stable and there is also a small section of missing binding that is about 3" long on the back near the endpin. The only other small issue is that there was an extra hole near the bottom endpin that was plugged. It was probably a jack for electronics or it could have just been a relocated strap button.

Besides the few small issues, this is an original guitar from what we can tell. It even includes the original hardshell case which has seen better days but it still functions. It is the same case that you will see with Martins and other American made guitars from the 20s and 30s.
