1973 Gibson J-45 Deluxe Tobacco Sunburst w/hsc
1973 Gibson J-45 Deluxe in Tobacco Sunburst—a vibey, road-worn classic with that unmistakable slope-shoulder feel. This square-shoulder dreadnought delivers a warm, woody voice with a strong fundamental, rounded low end, and a dry, punchy midrange that records beautifully and sits right in a mix. The Tobacco Sunburst top and multi-ply binding give it a distinct ‘70s aesthetic, while the comfortable neck and familiar Gibson scale make it an easy grab for long sessions. Expect a seasoned, open response with plenty of character for singer-songwriters, roots players, and studio work alike. Natural age and playwear are part of the story here, adding visual mojo without getting in the way of performance. This guitar is in good overall condition for its age with some moderate playwear that includes several dings and scratches on the body and some general finish checking. You can also see some vertical cracks (partially into the wood) along the bottom of the body, a small ding on the back of the neck, and some pick wear. Please see the photos for more detail. Despite these issues, this guitar has good bones, is a solid player, and sounds great having been freshly restrung and setup. The original saddle is pretty low implying that it could need a neck reset at some point in the future but it plays well as is currently. It comes with a non-original Martin hardshell case.
Features:
- Square-shoulder dreadnought body style
- Tobacco Sunburst finish
- Rosewood-style fretboard with dot inlays
- Multi-ply binding and tortoise-style pickguard
- Vintage Gibson headstock with three-on-a-side tuners
