BOSS AC-22LX Acoustic Amplifier
Boasting innovative BOSS Air Feel technology, the portable AC-22 LX acoustic guitar amplifier is packed to the brim with tone-shaping features. This amp’s formidable 10-watt power rating and dual 5-inch twin-cone speakers push out a deep, rich stereo response rarely found on an amp of this small stature. A dual-channel setup — including a Guitar/Instrument and Mic channel — opens up limitless possibilities for solo performers and singer/songwriters, with each channel featuring a robust EQ and effect section to dial in your sound. That being said, the true star of the show is the AC-22 LX’s 5-position Air Feel control, a forward-looking processing effect that mimics the sound of iconic stereo mic configurations. Topped off with an onboard Rhythm Box, audio interface functionality, and a deep editing app, the BOSS AC-22 LX represents a bold leap into the future of acoustic-electric amplification. The AC-22 LX accommodates both XLR microphones and nearly any acoustic-electric instrument via a 2-channel setup with exceptionally flexible sound-shaping controls. First, the Guitar/Instrument channel handles typical acoustic-electric guitars and pickup-enabled acoustic instruments, granting you a full 3-band EQ, dedicated Reverb, and a secondary Reverb/Chorus tandem effect. In comparison, the singer-songwriter-friendly Mic channel provides a simpler 2-band EQ and a dedicated reverb. And whether you’re running a classic dynamic mic or a top-class condenser, the Mic channel’s phantom power is up to the task.
While it’s undoubtedly an impressive acoustic-electric amp in its own right, the BOSS AC-22 LX’s extensive Air Feel section truly pushes this amp to a bold new level of sonic authenticity! The Air Feel section comprises five distinct processing presets replicating studio-standard stereo miking techniques for lush, full-bodied tones.
- Dry: An unprocessed setting that amplifies your pickup’s sound.
- XY: This mode mirrors a classic dual-microphone XY pattern, offering a focused stereo image that provides ample balance and rich resonance.
- AB: A wider stereo mic setup that grants you a bigger, bolder sound — guitarists particularly prefer AB for fingerpicking and solo guitar applications.
- ORTF: This setting merges elements from both XY and a spaced-pair approach. Sonic focus is the name of the game here, with cavernous depth and formidable body resonance.
- Mid-side: Lastly, Mid-side unlocks an exceptionally defined response with a rich stereo spread. This one is a must-have when playing within an ensemble or providing accompaniment for a vocalist.
Whether you’re out gigging or looking to liven up a practice session, the BOSS AC-22 LX’s extensive tap-tempo-enabled Rhythm Box is ready to serve as your backing band. Rhythm Box boasts 15 patterns and five different instrument types — including percussion and traditional full drum sets — that harness the power of BOSS spatial technology for a deep and dynamic percussion punch. The Rhythm Box covers your practice and performance needs, but what about recording? Luckily, BOSS enabled the AC-22 LX with full-featured loopback-enabled USB audio interface functionality, allowing you to lay down studio-level direct tracks without needing a traditional microphone.
