Deathcap Amps JCM800 Clone in 1950's Ham Radio
The Deathcap Amps JCM800 Clone, housed in a vintage 1950s National Ham Radio, is a boutique guitar amplifier designed by Mike Knauer of Black Cat Amplification. This unique piece brings a Marshall JCM800 circuit into a compact and rugged unit, delivering approximately 14-18 watts of power through a 6AQ5 power tube setup. It offers a rich metal tone but is versatile enough for rock, jazz, and blues.
This clone features heavy-duty transformers tailored for 18-watt Marshall and Vox amp styles, providing the backbone for its distinct sound. It's been meticulously equipped with additional control options, including a preamp volume (gain), bass, treble, and an ingenious master volume knob utilizing the original radio dial for precise volume adjustments.
Switches on this model include power, standby, and a rectifier switch that allows you to toggle between tube and diode rectification for a tighter or more saturated sound. The robust design also incorporates an effects loop and a unique LED indicator system for operational status.
Features:
- JCM800 inspired circuit in a repurposed 1950s Ham Radio
- Power tubes: 6AQ5/6005 military-grade for reliability
- Controls: Preamp volume/Gain, Bass, Treble, Master Volume
- Switches: Power, Standby, Rectifier (Tube/Diode)
